The Graduate School of English is to provide quality education at the graduate level in English Language Teaching to practicing and prospective teachers, as well as in Professional English Media Studies to all practicing and prospective professionals who need to expand their English skills in practical ways in response to the increasing demand for the teaching of English, the curricula reforms envisaged in English language teaching in ASEAN, and ASEAN’s growing importance as a hub for commercial media production. GSE aims to meet the need for professional development among the growing number of suitably qualified teachers of English and media experts.


Graduates from MA-ELT program will be:

  1. Well informed about contemporary theory and practice in TEFL/TESL.
  2. Competent in exercising the full range of pedagogical skills.
  3. Able to critically apply their knowledge and skills in practical contexts, especially within Thailand and the region.
  4. Effective and skilled communicators in both spoken and written English
  5. Equipped to engage in critical thinking and problem solving in their professional field.
  6. Able to plan, analyze and reflect upon their teaching and to evaluate student learning.
  7. Competent to carry out classroom research in this area.


Ph. D. ELT program aims to produce graduates who are:

  1. Competent in exercising a full range of research skills.
  2. Knowledgeable about contemporary developments in English Language Teaching in relation to the wider academic, business and socio-cultural communities in Asia.
  3. Committed to continued professional development in the context of the growth of English in society.
  4. Able to integrate his/her research and other contributions into the cultures of his/her institutions and societies.
  5. Able to critically apply his/her knowledge and skill in areas of interest, particularly in the Asian context, to foster the growth of cross-cultural dialogues.
  6. Effective and skilled communicator in both written and spoken English so as to develop the breadth and depth of his/her social identity within the international context of the scholarly community and society.
  7. Equipped to engage in critical thinking and problem solving in academic, social and cultural situations.
