LOCATION
Please bear in mind that Assumption University has two campuses in Bangkok: Hua Mak and Bang Na/Suvarnabhumi. It is therefore crucial to avoid unnecessary confusion.
The conference will be held at the university's main campus in Hua Mak, located at Ramkhamhaeng Rd, Soi 24.

CONFERENCE VENUE:
As you may have noticed, there has been a slight change of venue, caused by the fact that our conference has attracted more participants than we expected and we have decided to organise parallel sessions. However, since the Hua Mak campus of Assumption University is rather small the said change will hardly affect anyone.
The conference will still be held at Assumption University’s Hua Mak campus, as planned. The opening address will take place in Salle D’Expo and after a coffee break conference participants will be directed to one of two conference rooms situated on the fifth floor of the A building of the university complex (A51 and A52).
ACCOMMODATION:
Since we have recently been informed that our university hotel is currently overbooked, we have decided to make a reservation for our conference participants at the nearby INTERPLACE hotel. The hotel is situated within a walking distance from our campus on Ramkhamhaeng Rd. Soi 24.
The cost of a room is 800 Baht per night and the price includes breakfast. Although all the conference participants are expected to pay for their accommodation directly at the hotel, we need to make a reservation through the university, as the regular hotel prices are higher.
We have already booked the rooms for all of our international presenters for the two conference nights 4/5th August, 5/6th and 6/7th August but we need to confirm all the reservations with the hotel by the end of July.
Should you wish to stay in downtown Bangkok, please bear in mind that Bangkok is a heavily congested city without a good public transport system. Don't get frustrated if you end up spending a lot of time stuck in traffic jams. Let us know if you need any more information about accommodation or if you need help with making a reservation. We'll be happy to help.
You will need your hotel’s address to complete your landing/arrival card at the Immigration, although you can also use the university’s address for that purpose.
For all of those staying at the Bangkok Interplace Hotel, the details are as follows:

The hotel is situated within a walking distance from the university campus (marked on the map as ABAC University). Simply follow the main road until you get to the large gate marked Assumption University. You can’t miss it.

If you would like to reach BANGKOK INTERPLACE HOTEL by taxi you can print this card and show it to the taxi driver:

If you wish to change hotels after the conference and move somewhere closer to the centre, rest assured that in Bangkok you can easily find accommodation suitable for any pocket. Cheaper hotels can sometimes be more difficult to find online but even if you do not make a booking prior to your arrival, you should not have problems finding a hotel you might like. We will be happy to help you once we know your expectations and your price range but if you are looking for a more affordable accommodation you may actually find it easier to see the hotel for yourself while you are here rather than trust the website.
TRANSPORT FROM THE AIRPORT:
We have passed on all the flight details we received to the university unit responsible for hiring the drivers in order to arrange your transportation from the airport. We will notify everyone involved about all the necessary details as soon as we have them.
Please bear in mind that Suvarnabhumi Airport is rather large and that for some inexplicable reason most of the ARRIVALS area has been closed to general public, including everyone waiting for the arriving passengers, which is why it might take you a while to find the drivers who will be waiting for you. Unfortunately, most of our drivers speak little or no English, which makes things even worse, so please do not panic if you feel a little bit lost. We will try to find a suitable meeting point and make sure you are collected from the airport.
If we have not received your flight details by now I’m afraid we have to ask you to find your way to the campus and to the hotel by yourself. Please check below for details concerning public transport connections from the airport.
If your flight arrives after midnight we will need to notify the hotel reception to make sure someone is expecting you. If this is the case, please let us know as soon as possible. We wouldn’t want to leave you stranded in front of the hotel.
If you’re staying at another hotel downtown (not in the nearest vicinity of the university campus) you are expected to take care of your transportation to and from the airport by yourself. Assumption University provides free transportation to the university campus only.
If you need to find your way from the airport on your own, please bear in mind that since the airport skytrain is still under construction, the easiest way to get to the conference from the airport is by taxi. Still, since our university campus is situated relatively not too far from the Suvarnabhumi Airport you should not have any problems reaching it by taxi at any time of day or night. This is why there is no need to worry if for some reason we might not be able to meet you at the airport.
PUBLIC TAXI stands are located on the Arrivals floor of the Suvarnabhumi airport. They are clearly marked and you should be able to follow the directions without any problems. Avoid talking to anyone who offers you a taxi ride or you will pay at least three times the official price. There are two official PUBLIC TAXI stands at Suvarnabhumi airport. You will need to tell your destination address to the people sitting at the counter and you will receive a receipt. Keep the receipt and hand it over to the taxi driver at the end of your journey, it's a confirmation that you got to your destination without complaints.
Bangkok taxis are relatively cheap. You are expected to pay the toll if you're using the express way in the city (although there's no need to take the express way to get to Hua Mak from the airport). You will also pay 50 Baht extra for hiring the taxi at the airport. It's a standard fee and it's not included in the amount shown on the meter. The taxi fare from the airport to the university should be around 200-250 Baht, depending on the route and the traffic.
Please contact the organisers if you need instructions how to get to any other part of the city. You can read more about transportation to and from the airport on Suvarnabhumi Airport Site.
Instructions for the taxi driver in Thai:
Most Thai taxi drivers speak virtually no English but they will all know the way to Assumption University, or ABAC, as it used to be called before. Just make sure you mention that you want to go to ABAC Hua Mak or ABAC Ramkhamhaeng since the other campus is actually closer to the new airport and the driver might be confused.
Alternatively, you can print the following address card and simply show it to the taxi driver if you want to find your own way to the university.
